Shepherds

The West Houston Church of Christ follows the Biblical Model of leadership by submitting to Elders selected from the church membership (Acts chapter 14, I Timothy chapter 5, Titus chapter 1, James chapter 5, I Peter chapter 5).

Based on the volume of work and size of the congregation, the church utilizes two distinct roles of Elder: Shepherding Elders and Oversight Elders.

• Shepherding Elders devote themselves solely to spiritually nurturing and "shepherding" a designated part of the congregation.
• Oversight Elders are responsible for making the decisions that impact the congregation, including matters of finance, operations, long-term vision, policy and direction, staff oversight, and all other related matters.
