Welcome to the West Houston Church of Christ! Thank you for visiting our website and we hope and pray that you will join us for our service in the near future!
You may be wondering, "What kind of a church is this?" or "What is West Houston all about?" Our mission is helping people find hope, healing and home. We believe that God is calling us to make a difference in our neighborhoods and around the world. More specifically, we are a grace oriented, Christ centered church who accepts people right where they are in life. We believe that God desired to be in relationship with his children whom he desperately loves!
Our Goal is to grow deeper and deeper in love with God, one another and with our neighbors. We are disciples who make disciples. "What is a disciple?" you ask. A disciple is one who merely strives to follow Jesus Christ in all things. We are all on a journey together seeking to become more fully devoted to the task of following Jesus.
We believe that if you visit West Houston you will find a group of people who are a lot like you. We are young, we are old, we are male and we are female. We do not have the same color of skin, we are newly married and married for fifty years! We have families with young children and families without children. We are single and have never been married and we are single again. We are blended families. We are newborn babies and we are widows and widowers. All together, we comprise the family of God. We are genuine, honest, and sincere about who we are and who we are not. I like to tell people that “if you are a perfect person, then you probably won’t fit in at West Houston.” At the same time, we take the call of discipleship seriously and believe that God has called us to live lives that are holy and sacred. We take sin seriously and seriously believe that Jesus Christ died for the forgiveness of sins. We believe that God is at work among his people—that we are Christ’s ambassadors sent out into the world with the message of reconciliation, partnering with God and the work that he is doing to redeem the world. “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us” (2 Cor. 5:20).
I believe that if you visit West Houston you will find a church family that is warm, loving and inviting. We are not a perfect church (not by any means) but we serve a perfect Savior! We look forward to seeing you soon!
