The Way I See It is a free weekly essay by Matt Soper that seeks to thoughtfully engage current events, culture and the Christian faith. Matt is the senior minister of the West Houston Church of Christ.
This Sunday we will have our two worship services at their regular times:
8:15 a.m. in the chapel
10:45 a.m. in the auditorium
There will be no Bible classes, Kings Kids, or staffed nursery*. This gives our teachers and children’s volunteers a break midway through the summer.
The nursery will be open but not staffed. Parents are welcome to bring a child into the nursery and stay with him/her as they have need.
The Journey of Forgiveness
Wednesdays 7-8 p.m.
July 1, 8, 15
Taught by Matt Soper
Forgiveness is a decision God calls us to make. It is also a journey of many stages and dimensions. Drawing on the late Christian author Lewis Smedes’ classic books, Forgive and Forget and The Art of Forgiving, as well as powerful Biblical stories and teachings about forgiveness, we will look at what it really means to make the journey of forgiveness and why it is worth the challenges and difficulties. This is a class for adult members and guests.
Mission Lazarus
The medical ministry of Mission Lazarus functions as an instrument in order for the people it serves, people of minimal financial income and great medical need, to
know Jesus and His Church through direct medical treatment, health education, and direct and indirect evangelism, never denying consultation due to lack of financial
resources, and always allowing for glory and recognition to be given first and foremost to Jesus and His Church using Christ’s own example of preaching, teaching and healing.
