Jesus and Thomas

In John chapter 20, Jesus appears to his fearful disciples with the greeting 'Peace be with you,' fulfilling his promise from John 16:33. This peace isn't temporary relief from troubles, but lasting peace that comes from being reconciled to God through Christ's victory over sin and death. After offering peace, Jesus immediately commissions the disciples to share this good news with others. When Thomas doubts the resurrection, Jesus addresses his skepticism not to condemn honest questions, but to emphasize the importance of believing based on eyewitness testimony. Thomas's response, 'My Lord and my God,' represents the heart of Christian faith - acknowledging both Jesus' deity and lordship.
